94 points Wine Enthusiast, The SassodiSole Brunello Riserva is the ultimate expression of what the quality and elegance of the Sangiovese Grosso grape varietal is capable of. The wine is made from the best bunches from the best parts of the vineyard and then only bottled in the best vintage years. It is a wine with the unique characteristics of power , elegance , breath and intensity . A wine that can be enjoyed now (as the Riserva is aged 5 years before released) but can easily mature for ten to 15 years .The 2016 was designated a 5 star year by the Brunello consortium. The SassodiSole Brunello Riserva shows aromas of ripe red fruit and spices. Tasting reveals an intense and gratifying wine with notes of raspberry, blackberry and licorice. The backbone of the wine , the tannins, are surprisingly linear and smooth. This was accomplished by picking each bunch by hand, at perfect ripeness and long careful ageing in large oak vats and barrels made from Slavonian oak.
